Montana Film Office Wins World Class Awards
Montana Department of Commerce, Film Office takes top honors in several categories

The Department of Commerce, Montana Film Office brought home several awards from the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) Marketing Awards Competition held in Los Angeles, Calif., during the annual AFCI Locations Tradeshow. The Film Office won first place ribbons in the Direct Mail and Promotional Items competitions. It also won a third place ribbon for the Black/White Ad Campaign competition and was honored with two booth awards for Best Creative Design and Best Theme.

The award winning work consisted of:
First Place in the Direct Mail Competition – In this series of four-color postcards, beautiful Montana scenery set behind various Montana characters is tagged with catchy phrases such as “To us, ranch dressing is a good hat and a clean pair of overalls,” and “I’ll take the crop report over the smog report any day.” (Please see below.)
First Place in the Promotional Items Competition – The film office took high honors with their baseball caps with the Montana Film Office Logo on the front. The leather patch logo resembles a blue-jeans patch and reads, “Montana, A Better Brand of Locations.”
Third Place in the Black/White Ad Campaign – Using the same creative format as the direct mail postcards, these black and white magazine ads are used in various sizes for magazine placement.

“I am proud of the awards the Film Office won in the International Competition,” Program Manager Sten Iversen said. “This has been a very effective campaign for our office. It has generated an excellent response from the industry including an increase in phone calls and web traffic.”

Montana Film Office ads are featured in various industry trade publications such as AFCI Locations, Location Update, Daily Variety, BackstageSHOOT and Hollywood Reporter.  They are also used as direct and promotional mailings. The images below are a few of the ads and mailings we have used to promote Montana for 2002.  The Montana Film Office advertising was recently honored at the Montana Addy Awards ceremony with 7 Gold Addys, 1 Silver Addy and 3 Citations of Excellence.
