Montana CINE International Cultural & Environmental Film Festival
Announces a Final Call for Entries
through August 1st

Montana CINE International is the Last Best Film Fest in Missoula, Montana. Montana CINE International is a cultural and environmental screenings film festival held every fall and is now in its 5th year. Montana CINE's focus is global - films entered may have a cultural, social, political, policy, outdoor or environmental theme and should help to complete a global view of why and how we live in our world and interact with our environment. The topics and themes of Montana CINE International films are broad, featuring issues that explore the human experience and peoples' relationships with nature and their environment be it urban, suburban, rural or wild.

Films that are eligible can be features or documentaries, full length of short. There is no limitation on production year. Films entered may have a special focus on cultural, social, political or economic issues. Environment is interpreted to be any type of environment be it rural, urban or sub-urban. There is no restriction on production year. Films may be entered whether or not they have been broadcast. Entry forms and information are available at www.wildlifefilms.org. The film entry deadline is August 1, 2008. Cultures and Issues of Nature & the Environment events will be held October 6-12, 2008 in Missoula, Montana.

35th Annual Northwest Film & Video Festival Call for Entries
November 7-15, 2008

The Northwest Film Center calls for Northwest filmmakers to send their recent work by August 1, 2008 for consideration for the 35th Northwest Film & Video Festival. Presented by the Northwest Film Center, The Northwest Film & Video Festival is the most venerable and comprehensive showcase of outstanding work made by filmmakers living in the region. The Festival provides Northwest filmmakers with a forum for public recognition, critical appraisal and an engaged and enthusiastic regional audience. In addition, filmmakers are eligible for over $15,000 of Production Service Awards provided by sponsoring companies with valuable production resources.

Entries are judged by a prominent filmmaker, curator or critic who determines the Festival awards. Past judges have included Gus Van Sant, Matt Groening, Todd Haynes, Christine Vachon, Bill Plympton, and, Sundance and Outfest programmer, John Cooper. Generally, 30-45 shorts, features and documentaries are screened during the Festival, then 10-15 shorts are selected for the Best of the Northwest Tour program which travels the following year throughout the Northwest to media arts centers, museums, arts councils and universities.

Permanent residents of Alaska, British Columbia, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington may submit two works of any length or genre released since August 1, 2006 and not previously entered in the Festival. Student entries (college and university only) must be from a school located in the Northwest. Entry is free!

The entry deadline is August 1, 2008 (postmark).
The Festival runs November 7-15, 2008.

Casting Call

Yellow Wood Films is currently in pre-production on the upcoming horror feature film “The Vessel.” They are looking for actors to fill leading roles, as well as extras. There is some pay and per diem. They are looking for all types. Auditions will take place July 18, 2008. Shoot dates will be August 4th to August 24th.

Montana Actor's Studio Meeting

Montana Actor's Studio is a networking community comprised of individuals of all ages and varying career levels from all facets of the entertainment industry. Monthly meetings are designed for networking, to share ideas and information about the 'biz' and to meet actors and other film folk. New happenings at the Studio include weekly audition exercises with casting director, Tina Buckingham and director Pascal Grapard. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of the month. At our monthly meetings we provide a fun and relaxed atmosphere where everyone can learn and support each other. Networking is key to success in the film biz.

Early Deadline Approaching for the
2009 Big Sky Documentary Film Festival

The Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, the premier venue for nonfiction film in the American West, is seeking submissions for its sixth annual event. From February 13-22, 2009 the festival will screen 100 films, including world and U.S. premieres, classics, rare and experimental works on Montana's largest screen at the historic Wilma Theater in downtown Missoula, Montana. In addition to ten days of screenings, the event will feature many public and VIP events including panel discussions, galas, receptions and networking round-tables.

The competitive event is open to non-fiction films and videos of all genres, subject matter, lengths and production dates. Awards and cash prizes will be given for Best Documentary Feature (over 50 minutes), Best Documentary Short (15-50 minutes), Best Mini-Doc (under 15 minutes) and best documentary about the American West (the "Big Sky Award").

VHS (NTSC/PAL), DVD (NTSC/PAL), DVCAM (NTSC/PAL), HDV (NTSC), and miniDV (NTSC/PAL) accepted for preview. CALL FOR ENTRIES - TFI Sloan Filmmaker Fund Call for Entries

The TFI Sloan Filmmaker Fund will provide up to $140,000 in support of innovative and compelling filmmaking that explores scientific, mathematical, and technological themes and storylines, or a leading character who is a scientist, engineer, innovator or mathematician in fresh ways.

We are seeking exceptional narrative work of all genres (except science fiction or fantasy) with scientifically accurate themes or characters.

Selected projects from eligible directors, screenwriters and producers will be announced in Fall 2008 and highlighted at the Tribeca Film Festival in May 2009. In addition to funding, grantees will receive professional guidance and industry exposure as needed.

Announces a Call for Entries

Albertus Magnus College invites filmmakers to submit short films that explore the impact of the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights on the lives of people living in the United States today. Films may be narrative or documentary.

As examples, films can engage topics such as:

Films will be selected on the basis of artistic merit, pertinence to the topic, and the ability to educate and provoke dialogue regarding the protections, rights, and responsibilities afforded to individuals in the United States today.

Films must be postmarked by August 1, 2008 and received by no later than August 5, 2008. The series will be in Bree Auditorium, on the campus of Albertus Magnus College, September 15-17, 2008.

Search for LAWN ART

Grand Prix Productions is gathering footage and digital photos for a new book and syndicated television series, which will be called, Lawn Art. They are looking for houses and properties in Montana that have displays of lawn art of any type: mechanical, wind aided, religious, electrical/battery operated, automotive, holiday*, political*, and/or most original. The lawn art can be quirky, humorous, scary, serious or down right silly. We want to see everything!

The deadline for political is November 1 and holiday is December 31, 2008.
