Swift Dam |
The Swift Dam was constructed in the early 1900s and became one of the major disasters in the State of Montana. The dam lies at the head of Birch Creek at the southernmost point of the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. The Dam was built out of rock and stood 157ft high before it gave away due to the tons of water pressure. The water from the dam swept through the Birch Creek Valley killing many people in its path. The flooding waters from the dam went on to the Two Medicine Dam which also soon gave way. Click here for more information.
